Everyday Inspiration »

I just received a quote into my inbox this morning that really struck a chord partly because it’s one I never heard before but it links in with so much that we aspire to :)

Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.
~Albert Einstein~

Isn’t it strange how Einstein tapped into the law of attraction without knowing it? Taking that one step further, if your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions, it’s not too big a jump to realise that we become, or manifest for ourselves the things that we think about is it?

Imagining, or thinking about what you want to happen or what you want to become is just the first step of course. Simply imagining it or even believing it is not enough to make it happen, but when you go from imagining to believing you open a door in your psyche that allows you to begin to see things in a different light. Your belief will open your mind to the opportunities and possibilities that you encounter which will enable you to become, or achieve, what you believe.

Think of all the times that you have really needed money for an unexpected bill etc and a windfall of some kind has landed in your lap – usually just about enough to pay the unexpected or outstanding bill without any left over lol.

When that happens – do you feel cheated because you haven’t been able to ‘benefit’ from the windfall or do you feel supremely grateful that it arrived in time to save you worrying about how you would find the money?

I’m asking you that because chances are that if you are one of the people who would feel cheated and dissatisfied in that situation then you are not manifesting the right kind of belief system to make your imagined lifestyle happen. If you get caught up in the negative aspect of that type of situation, you’re likely to be clogging up your karma or whatever you want to call it with close minded thoughts and not opening your mind to the opportunities that are around us everyday, (I’m not talking about all those biz opportunities that are better than sliced bread here lol – I’m talking about the kind of opportunities that enable you to take those small steps towards your goal, maybe earning a few extra dollars a day initially, maybe freeing up some precious time to work on yourself or maybe opening up a new social circle where you may meet new business partners).

If you’re not a naturally optimistic person, learning to be grateful in that kind of situation can be quite a challenge. However, it is one that will pay you so many dividends. Mindset really is the key success factor. Start redefining yourself today. If you stick to one New Years resolution in 2010, let that be it and I look forward to hearing how much has changed for you this time next year :)

Effectively Using Safelists for Advertising »

There is quite a bit of debate at the moment as to how effective this method of advertising is. In the past a lot of people have used them and it is still possible to get some good results with safelists if you follow a few simple rules.

Choose carefully which ones that you wish to use.

Use only credit based safelists where people will earn credits from clicking your link.

Promote sites like YourProspex, Your Prospex blog and / or free advertising, list building sites, people who use safelists are looking to advertise their own product or service more than they are looking to join your opportunity BUT internet marketing education and advertising that have no cost attached will still go down well with people using them. Advertising & useful information are always in demand amongst internet marketers, plus the people who are likely to be earning the credits are those who will feel the need for those commodities most.

Safelists can be difficult to manage, they have different mailing times and different formats for the name placeholders etc. A good way of managing your use of them more effectively is to sign up for a free membership at Viral Mail Profits this will allow you to manage up to 7 of your chosen safelists. You can create templates for each of them and receive reminder emails when you are next due to mail. There are paid memberships available if you wish to manage more than 7 safelists and if you don’t want any advertising going out in your mail templates but the advertising is pretty subtle and 7 is more than enough in the beginning so I would start with that initially at least. After set up, this system saves you a heap of time.

Despite the fact that many marketers say they set up gmail accounts that they never look at specifically for receiving safelist mail, it is still possible to gain referrals using this traffic source if you advertise the right things and if you choose your subject lines carefully. Don’t just use a canned message. Adapt it to suit you.

You need an eye catching subject line that will get your mail opened and then a short, simple message inside that doesn’t make the recipient scroll for ages to find the credit link. Let your blog or referral link do the rest when people click on the link.

At the point of click through they may well be surfing away whilst waiting for the credits to be allocated so you may have just about 2 seconds to capture their attention when they come back to close the browser. This means that the info above the fold on your page needs to be as eyecatching as if you are using traffic exchanges so if you are using your blog to attract sign ups this way, work hard on your posts and subject headings there too.

Once people are signed up to your newsletter etc, you need to work extra hard to build that relationship with them. Use your auto responder to work on providing useful information rather than trying to simply sell them something. If you provide valuable info in a friendly approachable way, even those you sign up via safelists can become valuable members of your team rather than faceless people that you forget about the minute that they sign that dotted line..

Always have a couple of different contact details in your AR letters so that people can choose how to contact you if they should wish to, I use skype, yahoo chat and of course my email :)

A Christmas advertising gift »

Well to be frank this is an advertising gift that is available any time but as it’s so close to Christmas I just felt that it should be mentioned :)

One of the advertising sites that I use gives away 2000 credits to members who join free in order to give them a chance to try out the system before deciding if they want to upgrade, (it has an income building component as well as increased advertising if you chose to upgrade and work with it).

Now what does that have to do with attraction marketing and the purpose of my blog here you might ask?

Well the shortish answer to that one is that it’s one of the places that I advertise my blog.

I am an upgraded member but I tried it out for free first and I use my credits to buy a combination of guaranteed visitors, text ads and top ads in solo emails in order to drive traffic to my blog. It all helps with gaining visitors and getting my info out there. The traffic is delivered from a large family of sites aimed at other marketers – so people who should already have some level of interest in the info I am sharing.

However much I want to build relationships with people and build my business on trust and value, it’s important for me to use a variety of methods to drive traffic to my blog so that more and more people recognise me and gain an interest in what I have to share. I admit that I am especially partial to this one because of it’s income generating feature as well, but that aside, the traffic it delivers is also worth the upgrade fee for me at least.

If you would like to claim your 2000 free credits and test this advertising for yourself click here now I sincerely hope that you enjoy this christmas anytime gift :)

Successful people know this secret »

As Todd Falcone says:

“Proper application of the right activities on a daily basis will produce consistent results.”

Keeping busy with your business is NOT what makes you successful.

Being productive in your business activities is the only thing that will do that..

Have you ever wondered why the most successful people seem to be able to spend the least time on their businesses? The reason is that they have learned the art of being productive (and they are earning enough to be able to outsource or employ people to undertake the tasks that are least productive of their own time).

When you are starting out and can’t yet afford to outsource or employ people to do the less productive things that are required to keep your business healthy, it is imperative that you prioritise your time effectively.

Consider what tasks are the most productive for your particular business and then make sure that you carry those out daily, track yourself to ensure that you are undertaking these money making tasks effectively, ie at the appropriate times, (for example you don’t want to be calling people at dinner time or when it’s too late and they may be thinking about going to bed or already sleeping).

Now consider which of the tasks are necessary for running your business smoothly but are not immediately productive (this would be things like preparing training for your team, writing blog posts, maybe adding letters to your auto-responder) and then plan to carry out these tasks during the time you have available when it is not appropriate to be calling your prospects.

This will ensure that you manage your available time most effectively, no matter how little time that you have available to you each day.

Make a list of all of the tasks required to run your business effectively, give each of those tasks a weight as to it’s importance in producing the income and lifestyle that you want, prioritise them by order of weighting and then look at the time that you realistically have available to you each day and set aside an allocated amount of time to spend on each task within the time frame that you have worked out for yourself.

You will see results this way, positive ones that lead you closer to the lifestyle you are dreaming of.

Effective Backlinking »

The most important off page optimisation issue relates to the type and quality of backlinks you are able to create for your site.

When looking to create links to your site in order to convince the search engines that your site contains useful content that it wants to throw up early on in the relevant search terms categories, you need to ensure you cover the following points:

* Obtain links from high PR sites even if you have to consider buying them, the more PR the site linking to you has, the more kudos you give your own site in the eyes of the search engine.

* Ensure that the sites you are requesting or buying links from are relevant to your content, not competing, but definitely complimentary.

* When linking from your social profiles, again ensure that you use appropriate keywords to link with, phrases that fit in with the context of your social profile but also use the keywords that you want your site to be recognised for.

* Use articles to create valid, fresh content and submit to high ranking article directories with a link back to your site from the resource box, again using relevant keywords in the description phrase.

* Use videos uploaded to YouTube, MetaCafe and Viddler or other highly visited sites and again use appropriate descriptive keyword phrases to link back to your site from the video resource box.

If you have to give a reciprocal link in order to get listed in a directory then make doubly sure that the directory is relevant to your keyword terms.

If you keep these basics in mind when advertising your site online, you should begin to see the benefits of this approach quite soon. If you would like to download podcasts of more internet marketing tips like this, please visit BizPodcasts

Getting the Most out of Twitter »

When I first started out with Twitter I found it really confusing & incredibly difficult to fit what I wanted to say into 140 characters max!

I see a lot of people feeling similarly about it and so I thought it might be useful to share some
tips that have helped me so far and some new info I found, that makes sense but that I have yet to try, whilst researching this post :)

Twitter is great for SEO when used correctly because Google loves fresh content and Twitter is all about fresh content.

Your tweets can be found both on your own profile and on the home page of your friends and followers. They are also indexed according to the keywords that you have included so anyone can potentially find your tweet on Twitter if they search a keyword that you have used in your tweets.

Something I haven’t yet explored is the rss tweet feed on my profile page. Imagine how powerful this can be though as an SEO tool? It can be promoted just like any other rss feed, and your followers can add it to their feed readers, plus you can add it to the news page of your sites, and import it into your social networking sites, for example ning sites have the option to easily add an rss feed.. This is definitely something I am going to explore further the minute I finish this post :)

Your tweets and followers create Google page rank – this is definitely something I need to work on by becoming more structured about the keywords I use and building my followers more, I have seen some Twitter profiles hovering between a page rank of 3 & 4, now that makes for powerful links back to your web-site that you link to from your profile!

If you are very structured about the keywords that you use to tweet from a particular Twitter account, and also use those keywords in your bio, you will have far more chance of being found by anyone using the twitter search engine when they are looking to make contact with people using those keywords and phrases. These are just the kind of people that you want to be following you, so talk about win-win!

I also find that a great way to get followers is to be willing to retweet stuff you find interesting, it’s a great way of building relationships and if your tweet profile shows a healthy balance of communication people are far more willing to follow you and take an interest in what you tweet. I currently tend to pick up around 6 new followers each day without any effort on my part except for spending a few minutes each day trawling through the tweets of people I’m following and retweeting or replying to something they have tweeted. I also tweet personal development and inspirational quotes and try to keep the amount of personal links I post to about 20% of my overall activity these days. Some days even less than that, there are days when I just log into Twitter to engage with the people I’m following and purely work on relationship building that way..

Posting your own links over and over and never engaging with anyone else is simply spamming Twitter and it’s the best way to get ignored and unfollowed. It also acts against all the good SEO features mentioned at the beginning of this podcast, cos if you’re busy tweeting the same thing over and over, you’re not adding new, fresh content to the places your Twitter rss feed is feeding so you’ll lose some of your hard earned points with Google and the other search engines for any pages that use those feeds..

In summary then, to get the most out of Twitter:

* try to work on a structure using keywords both in your bio and in your tweets
* use the rss feed facility and share your Twitter rss with your web-sites and your social networking profiles
* your tweets and your followers will lead to gaining Google page rank, use them wisely
* sharing is caring – be willing to engage with the people you are following and those who are following you – re-tweet their stuff when it interests you and use @replies to converse appropriately with them (be careful not to over-do this, Twitter is pretty strict, but if you stick to relevant additional info to add to the discussion you’ll be fine – make it clear what you’re responding to when you use an @reply cos it’s easy to lose track and makes for disjointed conversation otherwise lol).
* Keep healthy balance between your personal link sharing tweets, your @ replies and your re-tweets, everyone loves someone who’s willing to acknowledge their efforts :)

Using Social Media »

These days one of the most fundamental aspects of attraction marketing is learning how to make the most of social media.

Take for example the way that a couple of my most precious ones are linked from this very blog to encourage you to add me as a friend there and learn more about me via those profiles.

Social media and the way it encourages us to build relationships, gives us a wonderful opportunity for increasing our brand and web presence and it’s usually free, although time consuming until you become very focused and quite strict with yourself about the time you allot to each medium.

In order to make the most of social networking and other social media, you need to practise good time management though it does give you much more leaway to personalise your interactions with people. Social networks often have instant chat features as well as blogs, forums and groups where you can discuss and share your knowledge and experience in order to draw people to you.

Twitter is one of the most popular social media sites at the moment, although it can be difficult to contain yourself and learn to say what you want to within 140 characters lol :) – it certainly took me a little while. Along with facebook as one of the most highly used social networking sites still you have a powerful arsenal if you just focus on these two initially.

One of the secrets to using these media effectively is to remember that you are there to build your reputation, to become known for being a valuable resource, not to bombard people with your links and become known as the person everyone wants to avoid (to be honest facebook and  twitter have extremely strict policies and it doesn’t take much to get your account suspended or banned there so start slow and build your friends and followers base surely).

When you choose friends pick them for their similar interests to you, look at them in light of common factors, in facebook the easiest way to do this is to use groups that you are interested in and find that you can share information effectively within and gradually befriend the people there, this is because facebook won’t allow you to view a users full profile before you are friends. When you request a friendship with someone, tell them where you found them and what common interest you seem to share to encourage them to accept you and start a dialogue with you.

This will get you off to a decent start, – make no mistake, social networking and using social media are incredibly effective marketing tools, they just take time and a softly, softly approach giving you time to develop a relationship of mutual respect with your friends and followers before you do business together..

Why Training Your Team is So Important »

Actually I’m just going to really focus on one aspect here – the one I see as being paramount although there are other reasons you need to be communicating and educating the team of people you are building within your networking business.

There’s a really good article from Tim Sales that triggered this post (in the Prospex Library at this link)

When you are encouraging people to join your business – are you thinking about what’s best for them or what’s best for you?  Course, if you have been following the posts here and / or the articles in the Prospex library, you’ll know that thinking about what’s best for them is what makes you successful :)

So back to the point lol – when your team members are looking to build their own teams, they need to understand this too. You need to make sure that you have communicated that message effectively so wherever they are starting from, they approach their business in the right way. Don’t let them use set scripts when they are talking to people, I know we all feel happier having prompts when we are starting a new business but make sure that prompts are all they do have, otherwise they run the risk of simply regurgitating the info provided by the company without looking at how and why your business will meet the needs of the person they are speaking to.

As Tim says in his article, if someone is looking for more time to spend with his children, the fact that the company is debt free or has been around for 12 years is not going to cut it for him until much later in the conversation…

Not many of us are comfortable with selling and yet that’s what we’re doing when we choose to build a network, we’re not selling products really – we’re selling a concept, a dream, and the only way to make that work and retain the people that you bring in is to train them to do that too. That’s one of the reasons behind the saying ‘teamwork makes the dream work’.

We all need to understand and accept that there are people that our business won’t work for, however wonderful we know it is.  We need to be able to recognise these people and be confident and honest enough to leave them walk away with their (and our) dignity in tact. It’s your responsibility to make sure that your team are able to do this too.

Successful networking these days is not about bums on seats, it’s about building a team of people that are willing to grow together, that share a vision and are willing to spend time developing themselves and their own teams to make their vision work.

It’s easier for some people than it is for others, and there will always be those who get over-excited and bring in the wrong people, (those who don’t want to learn and work), on the back of that excitement. Your team training needs to ensure that this happens as infrequently as possible to protect the integrity of your team and the confidence of your downline members.

You need to be plugging your team members into training that will develop their communication skills, especially their listening and feedback skills and their confidence in themselves with regard to their own personal integrity and presentation skills.

Being able to identify and walk away from someone who is not right for your business is far more potent than letting them walk away from you. It demonstrates integrity and confidence in your business model.

Building relationships with your prospects or visitors »

Marketing these days is all about relationships. Gone are the days when people would buy from you whether they knew or liked you or not. There are simply too many unscrupulous people out there and too many newbies (and not so newbies) who have been caught out by them.

That’s why attraction marketing has become so popular, it’s about building relationships, giving something of yourself that is valuable to others.

We all have something to offer, you just need to identify which of your talents you are comfortable sharing and this will tell you which niche to focus on. Apart from anything else however, you need to develop your communication skills. A huge percentage of our personal communications are based on non-verbal aspects and these are almost totally missing or eliminated from written or audio communications. (It is possible to ‘read between the lines’ of written communication and to pick up nuances in speech patterns but most people skim or semi-listen so are likely to miss these when the person that they are ‘listening’ to is not face to face with them.

It is extremely important to bear this in mind when you are considering building relationships with your prospects.

You are never going to be able to please all of the people all of the time as that old saying goes, but you certainly can work hard on growing and showing (or being) yourself when you write to them.

Grow yourself by putting others first in terms of considering what it was that you needed most when you were in their position and then sharing that with them (for free, well at least in exchange only for their email address and maybe phone number lol).

Show yourself by learning to let your natural self shine through your writing, mean what you say, think it through and explain it in your own words, don’t simply regurgitate what you read in the ads or what your favourite guru has sent you. Share their knowledge with your prospects by all means but make it clear where that is coming from if you are going to quote them verbatim and then back that up with your own reasons for thinking that particular share is important so they still get a sense of the real you.

Always include a couple of alternate contact methods in your communications with your prospects so they can pick a method that suits them rather than be restricted to the one that you prefer.

Social networks and forums can be great ways to get yourself known and to build relationships with people that enable you both to decide if you would like to work together before you pitch each other (though unfortunately many people overlook this slower but surer method of relationship building in favour of a sledge hammer approach to pitching their business that ends up doing little more than sending them straight to the ‘people you most want to avoid’ list..)

You need to build respect for yourself, (your brand), before you can draw the kind of people in who are going to work with you rather than be simply a name on your list, or a drain on your time and resources, because they want you to do everything for them. The more you give willingly and up-front, the less people demand your time, reassurance and presence in order to find their own level of replication and duplication.

You need to learn to let your enthusiasm shine through whichever communication medium you are using and that’s one of the reasons that people are so keen on videos at the moment, because you can see the non-verbal communications and get the whole picture almost as well as if you were face to face with the person on screen.  Unfortunately this doesn’t work if you are not relaxed on cmaera because you won’t be sharing the real you if you are focussing on how you look or come across rather than reaching out to your imaginary prospects as if they were sitting right there in the room with you.

A good way to start out with videos if you are camera shy is to use the AVR software that allows you to turn your articles into nice professional videos, ok it doesn’t show you on the camera so people don’t see your non-verbals, but they do get to hear you and they have something very professional looking to watch while they are listening to you, that is reinforcing the important points you are making. I am pretty camera shy myself so I love this software, you can check out some of the videos that I have made with it on my YouTube channel if you want to see some examples :)

If you wish to make videos using what’s happening on your screen, like showcasing a particular site or explaining how to navigate a particular site etc, jingproject is a great piece of online software that allows you to do this in much the way that camtasia does and it only costs about $14 per year for the upgraded version. There are also examples of these videos on my YouTube channel :)

These are very simple to use softwares that even non-techy people can become comfortable with in a very short time. I am so pleased that I found them because it really has opened up a whole new communication avenue for me.

In summary then, the key to building relationships with your prospects is to develop your communication skills and to utilise to the maximum, the various technologies available to help you do this. Let yourself shine through so that people are able to relate to you on a personal level. Become someone that others want to be friends with because you have so much to offer, share willingly and gladly the knowledge that you have and never stop growing yourself. This way your brand will take care of itself and you will gradually become an expert attraction marketer.
